Tuesday we had a look around Kununurra and decided we would do the Lake Argyle to Kununurra canoe paddle if we could go the next day and if it was okay to take the dog. We rang and got an okay on all accounts so we were committed. We then had to go and pick up 3 drums and an esky to take with us. Drove down to Lake Argyle this morning. Took a detour that led us onto an aboriginal community pretty messy. I have been really surprised with the landscape, it's quite mountainous not as I had imagined. Very beautiful though. We drove around, checked out the amazing swimming pool at the park then went for a big walk. Friday morning we made our way down a track and came out at Middle Springs Falls, very beautiful. It was quite a deep creek crossing to continue on our way to the main road. Went through to Ivanhoe Crossing on the Ord, there was no way anyone could get across here so we headed back and around. Drove up to the Five Rivers lookout this morning, a fantastic view out over Wyndham and the gulf, a very different landscape. Then drove out onto the mudflats, there is meant to be a track that goes around the range coming out south of the town but the mud was getting a bit sticky in places so we turned around and went back. We spent Sunday and Monday nights on the beautiful water at the Lakeside Caravan Park in Kununurra, we were ready for it after the Gibb River Road.
