Into Roebourne this morning, a smallish very old town with a big aboriginal presence. No public toilets due to the indigenous. Probably a dozen businesses in the town of which at least 10 were to do with aboriginal health or finance.
Went to the information centre which is in the old gaol and incorporates a museum, it was very interesting and showed just how poorly the original inhabitants were treated. Did a big walk around town and drove up to the lookout.
Then to Cossack, the town is no longer but there is a good heritage walk and the old buildings are open to walk through and are in very good condition. It was only a town from around 1860 to 1910, mainly a pearling town before Broome. Was interesting, we noted we are getting into big tide country, it went out a long way.
Then onto Point Samson and into the caravan park for the night, it's been 12 nights since we've been in one, it's nice although $39 is our most expensive. Port Lambert another Rio Tinto shipping facility is nearby.
