Packed up this morning and continued our drive along the road that was following the Fitzroy river. Came to the Fitzroy weir where there were a number of campers and fishermen. Watched a bloke with a lure reel in one after another, different fish that looked about 30cms, he was throwing them back. Headed for the Fitzroy River out from Camballin this morning. Drove through Camballin and stopped at a causeway for lunch, the signage had us very cautious for crocs. Drove further on the gravel road and in a track to the river. Had a go at fishing with a lure, fairly soon caught what we thought was a Poddy Mullet and a couple of small fish but nothing worthwhile. Friday we just looked around and did a bit of fishing with no luck, although we did get 3 little whiting with the throw net to use for bait. However by mid afternoon they had died so we thought we wouldn't waste them so Rose fried them up and we ate them, very nice too. Tuesday morning we left Gnylmerung and drove up a track along the coast to Tappers Inlet. The track isn't on any maps. Came to the inlet where there was quite a good looking boat on a trailer parked in the bush with the key in it, full of fishing gear, lures, sandshoes etc. all ready to go. The Willie Creek pearl tour was both a good experience and educational. Went to the Mango farms at the twelve mile on the way back into Broome. Stopped in the carpark at Malcolm Douglas wildlife park where Rose made lunch. Booked into the Pistol Club which had just been opened as an overflow caravan park.
