Day 279, 9 April 2013, Whistler, B.C. Took a chance on the weather this morning and headed up the mountain to see what it was like. I have christened this practice "meercat skiing". Only feasibly possible when you have a season pass. As it turned out, once we were through a massive foggy layer of cloud, the snow was gentle and the runs were silky smooth. We even ran into one of the few folks we know in Whistler - completely unplanned - just pulled up next to him in a lift line, half hidden in the fog and thought... hmmm that jacket looks familiar. We'd had tentative plans to meet for lunch and this way we got a few runs in before sitting down to utterly wicked fish and chips. Something about all that damp fogginess which encouraged us I think. Saw this gorgeous little critter in the afternoon when I nipped to the Blackcomb shops for impromptu "why don't you join us for dinner" supplies. The spring bulbs are bursting into flower everywhere in Whistler and for once the beep of the camera focussing was a blessing - he would stop fossicking for food and turn and look at me. Super cute.
