Day 259, 20 March 2013, Whistler, B.C. What a day. Woke up at around 4 am and went to the window to check the progress of last night's light snow. Woo hoo! Easily 15 cm odd at that point. It made it to 32 cm of new snow by 6 pm. Skiers love it when forecasters get it right. Snow however was the least of our worries this morning. We were too busy asking each other if someone had taken the number of the truck that had run us over. We were sure paying for having way too much fun on the mountain yesterday. Fortunately James is made of much stronger stuff than me and he got us out of the house, kicking and screaming shortly after 9 am - getting earlier every day. There was almost 20 cm of snow to kick through just to get to the driveway. Still snowing. Got on the gondola pretty smartly (because the majority of folks would have been up there at the crack of dawn). Kept snowing. Did a few of runs. Snowed harder and to add interest, wind picked up. Brrrrr. Did what all skiers do in these circumstances and went for hot chocolate and a spot of lunch. Met up with most excellent skiing friends and whizzed down to the village after lunch. Snow stopped. Rain started. Snow better. Massive cold front coming through and freezing level dropping - come back Snow! All is forgiven.
(Pictured is the view from our lounge room window of 20 cm of new snow at 9 am this morning - absolute winter wonderland. Especially since it's the first day of Spring!)
