Day 307, 7 May 2013, New York to Plantation Key, Florida (via the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina and finally Georgia) on Amtrak's Silver Star No. 91 train. We were up bright and early - for no other reason than we still had to pack - Aaargh... Right. All fitted in. More or less. Quick scoot 10 blocks back along 8th Avenue to Penn Station for the 11 am train. And the Acela Departure Lounge had a printer. Bliss. Safely ensconced on the train, scenery flashing past. Lunch soon. After the frenetic pace of NY, time has suddenly, thankfully slowed. We've checked the map and come to the conclusion that Florida is not so much in the deep South. But you sure have to go through the south to get there. Accents are changing, the light is changing and above all the weather is changing. Torrential rain, thunder and lightning and back to big sky country and sunshine - all before bed time. Wow. (Pictured is roughly at dinner time - sun setting, rural tranquility - somewhere in North Carolina)
