Day 267, 28 March 2013, Whistler, B.C. Pictured is the Peak to Peak Gondola with Blackcomb Mountain in the distance. The freezing level was 800 m yesterday - almost down at Whistler Village. Today it was 2200 m - essentially the top of Whistler Peak. What a difference a day makes. The snow was a bit crunchy first up, but it was like skiing in a vanilla slushy by the time we headed down to the village at around 3.30 pm. Just like powder... except not. We both did separate mountain tours today... I went on the slow, cruisy, relaxed tour to get my confidence built up and James took off with a family of excellent skiers including a speed demon called Elliot. All of 8 years old and been skiing for one whole year. Finding any opportunity to leap off ledges and jumps. Ahhhh.... to have learned as a child. No distance to fall. No fear of one's own mortality and no comprehension of all the other moving missiles (sorry... skiers) on a mountain. That, indeed, would have been bliss. We caught up for lunch and cruised back to the village and on to the infamous No. 5 shuttle to get us home. Drinks. Nap. "Apres" NotBeingGrownups style...
