Sorry the blog is a day late as no wifi again. The pic is me in Sarria, the only town we went through as the rest was all countryside with some shade thank goodness. Galicia definitely has a smell which I can only describe as cowsheds. It's really small time farming with lots of dairy. Apart from the puplo which I may try once more the local speciality is veal. Not the milk fed stuff that has such a bad reputation but they obviously kill the young male cattle fairly early. The countryside looks like Derbyshire with stone walls and lots of woodland and beautiful rolling hills. I don't think we have any more mountains to cross and I'm very thankful. We are both still feeling pretty strong and fit, although hopes of weight loss have been blown by beer, bread, wine and the fabulous tarte Santiago . Sarria was full of hostels as a lot of people join the Camino here so we decided to walk on a further 4 kms to stay in barbadelo in a casa rural. Casa Carmen has moved into a top place in our favourite places to stay. We were very hot and tired when we arrived at this old house but wonderful welcome from Pedro who told us to cool down, take a shower and go for a drink on the terrace. They did our v smelly washing and we watched some World Cup on a telly rigged up outside Germany v Portugal but it seemed like game over when we went for dinner. Does Pepe always get sent off ? We had promised ourselves to eat lightly because of the heat so it was three helpings of lentil soup, meatballs with chips and home made cheesecake with a bottle and a half of wine. We slept well and the bill for our room, the laundry, dinner and breakfast was Euros 60. Never let money put you off doing the Camino.
