This is a photo of me in the full wet weather outfit. The rain was bouncing off the pavements when we set off this morning and all of a sudden everything feels heavier and slower. Some pilgrims have umbrellas which look very silly but this certainly isn't fashion on the move. The rain stops after about an hour and it gets sunny and windy. Because we are always walking westwards Roger's left leg has more of a suntan. You notice these things after four hours walking. We were both very much with our own thoughts today's which also feels natural and maybe better than yesterdays's effort to see if we could remember every verse of there was an old woman who swallowed a fly.....and b***** me we could. Which reminds me that today's tracks are Alright Now by Free and Danny Warhols I'm a Bohemian Like You.
We've said goodbye to Jean Pierre from Biarritz who has been a most entertaining walking companion but tonight we saw Christini the lovely young woman from Brazil who we met on the very hard first day. She's been to hospital with led muscle pains but is still determined to continue. We had a pilgrim meal together which the restaurants serve at 7 and is amazing value. 10 euros for 3 courses with wine. The Spanish are horseless with puddings so it's ice cream or flan which is creme caramel. However the Spanish still go out to eat late and as I write this at 11 they are still on the streets. But I guess they are not up at 7.30 to start walking.
