Gloomy photo taken this evening after a simple pilgrim meal in our hotel. It's somewhere we stayed two years ago and it seems the menu is the same but we are wise enough to avoid the Gallician stew. It has rained for most of today and it's still cold, but the weather I supposed to get better tomorrow. Many fewer walkers make the journey beyond Santiago to go to the coast to either Finistere or Muxia. But after the bustle of Santiago it's good to be back on the quiet roads and tracks. My boots are now worn out and Roger's in danger of losing his sole so we've bought some superglue. Sometimes you see boots abandoned at the side of the road and I try to imagine how they have carried on walking. It seems strange to think we will be back in Stratford in less than a week ,so I'll be making all efforts to have some meaningful thoughts, apart from the fact the octopus is not a contribution to world gastronomy although a big favourite here. Finally a very happy birthday to young Ellie who is in Ibiza for a hen party... You can't imagine how different our Spanish experiences will be this weekend.
