More than 31 kms today which could explain why we are in bed and it's still light with the birds singing. So that is 20 miles but largely on the flat. The photo which is mysteriously upside down is outside what is one of the nicest places we've stayed in a very small place called Villavente - town of the wind but no cheap jokes at Roger's expense. It's an old water mill converted a couple of years ago by the couple who now run it. We were met by a cold beer, shown our lovely room, had our washing done and had a great home cooked dinner. Can such simple things make me so happy? Oh yes. Dinner tonight was with a couple from Germany who've we've seen a few times but can't converse with and a couple from Northern Ireland. He's a prison officer turned Anglican minister with some very interesting but myoptic views, but the spirit of the Camino means you do a lot of listening and only occasional ask why the Irish enjoy a fight so much...... Although lots of the walk today was pretty straight, we saw hedgerows for the first time in ages and fields looked more like normal size rather than stretching beyond your view. The snow covered mountains which have been in the distance are now looming larger. Some of the walks later in the week are steep both up and downhill. My poor knees. I'm going to see if Roger will do another guest blog soon as everyone seemed to like his top Camino likes. Martin, a last few disco tracks. Wild Cherry, play that funky music white boy. Human League, don't you want me baby and cool and the gang celebration.

Mary Makes our 5 and 3/4miles yday with the walking gang pale into insignificance. Lovely walk around Oxhill with open views and gently rolling hills. The banter, marsbars, readings and singing were up to the usual high standard.
