Well its all over with.. all the hard-work that was put in for 6 months and I never missed a rehearsal.. Patience was great! despite me tripping over my dress and almost falling down the stairs on stage.. that was fun though!! :)I am however going to miss my bonnet.. it was happy! it sure was an amazing week with my fellow Gilbert and Sullivan Society members but I can't lie, I"m a little glad its over with.. I had the time for it and I loved it but it can be a bit cliquey and I'm heading into more and more things to do for classes with my masters program so I need to be more focused. I am going to go and see Susie perform in Shh.. the Musical.. It will be a stage premiere and its going to be awesome! God it was good to be on stage again!! although when people got crappy with me I had to remind them that this wasn't my first rodeo. there was so much I wanted to say about my week with patience.. other than it took A LOT of patience because I was tired all the time and just busy with classes and homework as everyone was but I'm a post grad.. I'm expected to function. but a HUGE thank you to all my mates who came to see me: Alex (who made an amazing effort and wore a stunning gown!), Laura, Susie, HonMan, Dafni, Aoife, Becca, Helen, Rachel, Esther and Zac. It was great to see everyone out in the audience! Gosh that sounds like an acceptance speech.. "I'd like to thank everyone who helped me step on all the little people to get so high on this pedestal. I'd also like to thank Morgan Freeman and Alanis Morresette" (if you know anything about me.. you'd understand that last one" So whats next for me musically?! Aberdeen Opera Company! WOOT!
so Update on this PhD business.. I think I have a pretty good in because I was asked to call my hopefully future boss by her first name instead of by Dr. so and so.. (names being protected here) which is quite awesome.. I can only hope that my interview goes as planned.. Which isn't going to be until after the 1st of March. Which is fine! :) but currently we are trying to figure out HOW to do the interview.. my cellphone is crap so I'm hoping I can do it either through skype or I can travel down to Wales for it. which would be quite fun! :)
Speaking of traveling fun! I'm going on a field trip tomorrow!! Me, Zac and the other soil student are going to go and collect samples and of course we're going to talk about the articles we've read and critically analyze them. This should be great fun tomorrow though.. however I'm afraid of the ground being frozen.. ach.. we'll make it work! Plus we're supposed to go and get some worms too.. WORMY SQUIRMY!!! So speaking of which.. I am going to go and read some more and work on my craft project for my gramma.. she's been wanting pictures so I'm making her a photo album.. I'm going to hook it together using ribbon so I can keep sending her more pages that she can just tie into the album :) yes, I am crafty that way.. Thanks for thinking so :)
I'M SO GLAD I CAME TO SCOTLAND!!!
Things I have realized/learned in the past week:
- I have been riding Double Decker buses since I got here... not once have I sat in the top of one.
- Scotland hates cookies.. or rather every time I make cookies they dont end up like cookies that I make at home.. either there isn't enough air getting whipped into them or maybe its just the ingredients or something.. but I make them they same way I would at home..
- Standing up on a bus, is scary business...
- 18 degrees Fahrenheit sounds cold.. but you realise that its really effing cold when you walk home a mile at night in nothing but boots, a dress and a mac coat.. oh and not completely sober.
- you can get 2 foot long spaghetti in the grocery store
- I am allowed to dye my lab coat purple!!! guess what i"m doing this weekend!!
- I didn't learn this in the past week but I'm pretty darn sure that Scotland invented the world.
