everyone has all of these names for themselves.. "I AM SHIRAH!" or "I am the warrior (bang bang!)" oh and of course "I am the walrus!" "I am rock, I am an island!" but I, yes I AM THE SOIL WHISPERER!!! and I am also the origonal sexy beast but for right now we'll go with one nic name at a time :) Gilbert and Sullivan got their company jackets/zip hoodies.. and so of course everyone is putting cute quotes on it from the show.. by cute I mean double entendre type stuff hahah but I chose Soil Whisperer... I can't really really identify with the show except being a love sick maiden.. or an love sick old maid or whatever.. BUT I thought it fitting that the crazy american of the society has a crazy thing on ther jacket. by the way.. the part that doesn't look like it belongs there.. doesn't.. I did a bad copy and paste job of what is on the front.. but just so people back home and myself 50 years from now can show this to people or in my case my 80 cats.. or I can force everyone who works as a minion in my lab to listen to my tales of old. When I was your age type of stuff.. :) When I was your age, they made us pipet by hand! thats right.. it was sorta like a turkey baster.. HAHAH joking..

Anyway. the fact that I'm writing this blog means I've finished with my winter exams (yay!) and I'm sorta alive (boo)... I contracted a heinous cold this week and of course like the dramatic that I am. I am completely convinced I'm never going to recover. but of course thats not the case.. this isn't the 1500's.. it is now 930pm and I am just now getting my dinner.. I decided to have what spaghetti sauce was left over that I shoved in a bag and put in the freezer.. yeah it wasn't much I found out after it thawed out.. so it got the experimental treatment.. it became 1part spaghetti sauce to 1 and a half parts red wine reduction add a little cheese and its actually not too bad.. it could use some cracked black pepper but that means I would have to get up again.. nooo thank you..

things that I have missed out on all my life and now think is absolutely amazing:

• mince pies
• chocolate cheesecake
• cadbury mini-eggs

those are totally the bees knees

Since my last real raving about how grand life is.. heres some things that people missed out on.. I went to Glasgow! it was totally effing amazing and I will be uploading pictures soon! I met up with Esther who is my glaswegen buddy! well actually she's a Hamiltonian but its close enough. and I also met Derek for the first time! They're both totally fab and totally fab together. Es met me at the bus station and we went to the cathedral district and the oldest house in Glasgow. We also spent some time looking at architecture and going to the modern art museum.. which was fantastic! We also went and saw Beauty and the Beast! which was amazing but Belle was driving me nuts.. We found out that Es really brings out the wild side in me, we rode the train for free.. by free I mean we didn't buy tickets and there were no ticket checker people so we just didn't get caught and it wouldn't have mattered anyway.. ALSO she got me to buy fancy pants! :) WOOT! I'm not embarrassed to admit it! :) Me, Rach and Es spent new years at Robert and Louises house and we all got a bit too drunk.. which I paid for by paying homage to the porcelain goddess for 6 hours. but fun times were had by one and all!! :) then spent first footing with Rach's Aunt and that was a blast.. that night I fell in love with David Tennant.. dear lord I'm on a roll with men! to bad I can't have any of them! :( But Rachel and I drove back on the second of jan, and it was quite an adventure.. More or less it was an adventure to find a toilet.. took us a while but I did find a phone booth! :) that was nice :) and Square.. and Red.. OH and I saw Sterling Castle! from the Carriageway, but non the less I did see it! its on a giant cliff.. and I'm convinced that Sean Connery probably owns it.. but rents it out to public viewing.. because Sean Connery owns all of the awesome castles in Scotland.. and dont you forget it! HAHAHAHAH!

Since I've been back, I have had lots of lunches with friends especially my bosom ecology buddies! I have had free time, worry time, freak out time and cram time for exam time. and now I have contracted the plague.. I have also been selling tickets for the Gilbert and Sullivan production (hint hint those of you in aberdeen or have a valid passport!) I have also bought a plane ticket. Now I had been trying to plan out my spring break for a while.. and it came down to it and I just think its better that I come home. I hate to admit it but I"m crazy homesick and just need something familiar for a week. and double stuffed oreos.. and REAL MEXICAN FOOD!! OH I have also begun applying for a PhD here in the UK. its in Wales and its on soil carbon climate modeling which isn't my forte but it IS interesting and it WILL get me my PhD in 3 years AND I can always do a post doc when I have a title and more people are willing to give me money.. But I am still going to apply for more PhD's so I have time to decide if I get accepted.. but I dont know if I'll have the strength to say no.. but Happy thoughts.. But since I am coming home for Spring Break that means that this summer I am planning to go to Tuscany or Provence to write my dissertation for a week or two. There is no rule saying I have to stay in the Great Country of Scotland after my research is done and all I'm doing is writing.. I can do that from a villa with a view.. and have fun and be somewhere awesome.. plus I can save up so I can do things like that.. its a good goal.. I'm GOING to do it.. and only Graeme or Zac can tell me no but they better have DAMN good reasons for it! :)

Anyhow, I need to finish eating and probably get to bed early.. since I have the plague I should probably get more rest. :)
