It has been a while.. but I've been super busy
It is now the end of day 3 of classes. And right from the start they have either made me feel guilty for something I haven't ever done or even attempted to do yet.. or they have made me tired with trying to understand my teachers.
Classes have been great though! I think I'm really going to enjoy going to school here. nothing extremely hard yet but I have made sure that I have done extra reading for things that we are going to be doing or that we are doing just to make sure that I am staying a head of the curve.. Officially there are two of us now in the MSc. Soil Science, and I think thats alright.. I haven't officially met the other student but I know his name is Theodore. I hope I can call him teddy :) Tomorrow is my first real academic field trip and we are going to Kirkhill. Home of interestingly protected soils by the Scottish Government and also the site where I find out if I retained most of my USDA crony training or not. I have every intention on being outspoken but well reserved and humbled and I WILL let others have a chance to answer questions..
Dear Soil Goddess let me be humble and knowledgeable, also bless me with great hair and cuticles and also dont let me get stuck in peat in my new boots.. Thank you.. Your friend and humble servant.. the soil whisperer..
Its late so this is going to be rather a short blog and then a catch up will have to happen tomorrow after my field trip which I promise to take lots of pictures of! I know many of you have been wandering what this surprise is that I've got.. Well, I had my meet and greet with my two Major Proffs today.. Dr. Graeme Paton and Dr. Zac Hickman.. It was more like a lets get together instead of a meet and greet and actually Graeme and I talked about the Difference between the Cascades and the Rocky Mountains for most of my session and Zac got mad that I am not "married to statistics". tough love brotha.. tough love..
Anyway, I got to ask questions about my thesis.. So I asked if I am expected to come up with my own topic or will they have on going projects that I am going to be apart of.. Graeme said that if I am interested, that I am more than welcome to join him on one of his projects that he is working on with another government. What government is that? Stjórnarráðs Islands... or in english The Government of Iceland.. Yep thats right.. I have a strong possibility that I will be doing my Masters Thesis in ICELAND! I dont really know what on.. but its a cool notion that I will most likely maybe be working in Iceland for a little while this December, January and Spring/Summer.. All accommodation and Air travel is being paid for and all I have to worry about is spending money.. of course this isn't a definate spot yet.. but it was a positive maybe.. so send me furs baby, Iceland here I come!!!!
So I'm super excited and super tired.. I have a field trip tomorrow and really need to hit the hay.. Goodnight to all!! I know I'll be dreaming of the most amazing hotspot in the whole atlantic! Geothermalgasm!
