Wow. Glad to hear you are off to a bonnie start, my lass. Righty-o, they have the money there. If you're good enough to get in, the research is paid for. THat's what I did not get about grad school here in the U.S. and why it was so hard for me to get up & running. Well, I just spent my savings at first. You'll discover a smaller portion of the citizenry go to grad school and thus it is more highly valued than here.
I will pray for humility for you. I am enjoying my Presbyterian Church. Teching Ethics at OSU makes me what to talk religion with you..keep that in mind foro next year. Send an old fashioned post card from somewhere...Aberdeen, Iceland or ?
Remember , you're at a premier University but University of Edinburgh can stil knock your socks off:>

Hey Alyssa, your dad just sent us your blog address and I just went thru everything! I am so thrilled for you, what a great adventure. I promise to faithfully follow your adventures. Dean and I are still here at Orchard Park, although we also now own a house on Anderson Island (South Puget Sound) that we get to go to occasionally.
Sounds like you will have a great birthday and all the holidays and that you will soon make lots of great friend there as well. Time will go all too fast. Take care, we will think of you often. Love to you Ruth Ann
