Day 66 - Thu 24 May - Timaru
This morning we headed for Timaru's scrapbooking shop where Ros spent some time perusing the goodies. Apparently about 70 people are coming to Timaru this weekend for scrapbooking workshops being held at the store. Ros found some bits and pieces to take home for her scrapbooking/cardmaking.
In the afternoon we went to visit cousin Aileen and husband Alan at their new home. They are well settled - but still boxes to sort through (as you do). It's a nice setup where they are - it will suit them. We went up to the RSA for 4zzes tonight - quite a few in. The RSA has lunch on weekdays and that seems to be popular and also does dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Day 67 - Fri 25 May - Timaru
It was an early start this morning when a crane turned up in the carpark. There's some work being done at a nearby house and the tradesmen are using the back fence for access. However the crane was gone by the time we had breakfast so we can still come and go. We spent some time at the Timaru Museum and found new information about some of Bruce's family (who were early settlers in Timaru). In 1859 William Double (Bruce's gt gt grandfather) had worked on building Stafford Street - the main shopping street in Timaru. There was even an account of what he was paid. Aileen and Alan joined us for dinner at the RSA tonight. It was very busy there with lots of members in for the Friday night raffles and dinner. We enjoyed our meals and a last chance for a natter with the others before we head north tomorrow.
