Hermanillos to Mansilla de la Mulas Despite the extra hour in bed with the clocks going back, I awoke feeling tired and a little queasy, wondering if the bug has finally caught up with me. Had I been walking by myself today, I probably would not have risked setting out. The first 17km today is on another old Roman road with no villages, no people, no shelter and no water. It's not the sort of place to fall ill or have a mishap, especially in temperatures in the high 70s. Three weeks ago, Margita and I were strangers and now having walked together for the past week, we have become really good friends, supporting each other to get through the awesome Meseta. At times, it is simply a question of looking for a marker in the distance, putting one foot in front of the other and reach that point, look for another marker and do the same again. Hour after hour! We have arrived at a new albergue in Mansilla de la Mulas. Like virtually every albergue, however remote the location, this place has free wifi so I can reconnect with the modern world after another day on the timeless Meseta.
