The kids woke up a bit through the night as their sleeping bags were on the floor and it was the first really cold night. They went back to sleep and were happy to watch a dvd when they woke up in the morning and so Nick and I slept in and then read in bed too. I had a shower and washed my hair (luxury when free camping!) and after the breakfast marathon we hit the books for a couple of hours. After school Nick and I got to read for a little while as the boys have made friends with two girls camping opposite us. Matty was impressing them both with his tree climbing skills (something he has only just discovered) but not a good move when Jonny was then on the ground to score all the lollies!! We went for a walk along the beach in the afternoon and climbed the rock pools. The weather was beautiful and the camp still had people arriving throughout the day. By early evening there were lots of families here sitting around campfires and music playing. We were grateful we had chosen a spot far from the madding crowd! We had dinner and then sat outside again with Doris and George. As it got dark I showered the kids and found a huge tick on Matty's back - no more tree climbing for him! We managed to remove it with a pair of tweezers after Vaseline and butter failed! The kids fell fast asleep by 8pm and we sat and talked to Doris and George until gone 10. As we were closing up the annex we heard a large munching sound and found a huge wombat just outside the door eating the long grass. Unfortunately it was too dark for a photo!
