We both had the worst night's sleep yet with pissed idiots wondering through the campsite, drag racing and police chases going on through out the night so got up early and packed up with lots of enthusiasm! We were on the road by 930am and headed for Gippsland to a free camp beside Cape Liptrap Coastal Park. The drive was very pretty through green hilly countryside but it was hard for Nick as the crosswinds were strong and the roads really potted so the van bounced and swayed nearly the whole way along!! We passed through some pretty large towns but it felt like we were going to the back of beyond - heaven after Rosebud! We found Bear Gully Camp easily, a beautiful place on the beach with camping areas set into the bush, some with fire pits. There were a few other campers around but on the whole it was very quiet so we found a spot all on its own and set up camp. We put the annex up as the week ahead is supposed to be full of rain and cranked up the generator for a coffee. The kids went off exploring and found trees to climb and within an hour everyone seemed happier and much more relaxed then over the last 5 days. We went off to explore the beach and met a family who arrived yesterday. They are travelling in the opposite direction to us and gave us some good camping spots for NSW and the ACT. The beach was wild and windy and full of rocks, which were great to explore. I left them all to it after a while and came home to clean the van. We had sausages and veggies on the bbq for dinner and spent the evening watching a dvd. Just before bed we did a toilet run and found a great big fat beautiful wombat - life is good! There is minimal internet access here and we are only catching a signal very occasionally so no TV - time to catch up on a few books, games and early nights!

Jason Hoggan Great trip so far! I found the card you gave me at the Dome in Booragoon just last week and thought I must look you up. Lily loves the photos and sends her regards. I think you may have inspired us to make a similar choice of our own. Plans will take some time and we have a years lease. But I can see us taking a chance on life. Good on you both! I really admire you. Jason
