We set the alarm this morning for the first time since leaving Perth but it wasn't needed as the kids were awake early wanting to spend as much time as possible with their friends before saying goodbye. Nick and I had coffee and skipped breakfast thinking we should start the 5:2 diet again as eating cheaply means lots of carbs and my body is showing it! We packed up the caravan, said goodbye to the Sansoni Family from Bussleton and headed off to Queenscliff. We were booked on the 11am ferry but were there in time for the 10am ferry. Unfortunately the caravan was too high to fit on this smaller ferry so we parked and walked into town for coffee and had a play in the park. As we walked back to the ferry the Sansoni family were in the queue for the ferry too so the kids were ecstatic. We climbed the tower by the marina, which had awesome views over the town and the Rip across to Sorrento. Getting on the ferry was very easy and the passage only took 40 minutes. We stood outside on the top deck and watched the scenery go by as the kids ran around too full of excitement to contain! Once off the ferry we hit the main highway straight away and before we could blink were out of Sorrento. Fifteen minutes down the road was Rosebud where we found the Rosebud Foreshore Reserve, a cheap camp ground owned by the council with power and water for $138 a week! We found our site with great difficulty as all the site markers had disappeared (the things people collect!!) and ten minutes later the Sansoni's moved in next door. The kids all ran off to play while we set up and for the first time the annex went up like a dream! Nick walked across the road and bought some fresh bread for lunch - the 5:2 suddenly out the window!! Eventually we went for a walk along the beach to the Rosebud jetty. It's a nice enough beach but nothing special and by the time we got back to the van we realised Rosebud is nothing special either! There is litter everywhere, graffiti on all the buildings and everywhere looks tired and run down - not what I was expecting from the Mornington Peninsula. It started to pour and the kids were all filthy from playing in the dirt so we showered them all before dinner and wouldn't let them out again afterwards. The kids from next door came over to watch tv and when we eventually got them to bed Nick and I watched a movie.
