Day 41. Santiago de Compostela. We are here. Already the walk this morning seems a long time ago. Lovely walk after the rain talked with two seminarians from the states. 9 kms or so.
Got to the cathedral feeling a bit tearful me not Hugh. Happy to end but feel a loss too. Went to get the Compostela and stood in lone for 45 mins. Hugh went back to a cafe to pick up his phone that was charging. They have little lockable clear lockers with different chargers in them. Hugh hasn't been able to charge his phone much since he got here. While I was waiting in line I Saw Carolyn Julio and Victor. Many hugs and congratulations. Hugh was delayed looking for dog good for the beggars dogs!! But managed to get back in time to get the Compostela.
Went to our apartment but not ready. So off to the station to book rail ticket all trains full. Any way long story short we staying another night here in a very nice apartment overlooking the Cathedral. Really is very comfortable and we will travel all day to Barcelona.
Made supper in the apartment and did washing. The sound from Inmaculada Plaza was of Celtic bagpipes for five hours but the we heard popular opera. Went out about 7:00pm listen to the Chilean singer in a stone portal really lovely. Bought CD then went to a brass band concert And sat onsteps behind the cathedral. Best brass band ever. Carolyn came to sit with us so had a drink with her and on the easy home just after ten on another side of the cathedral came upon a Mariarchi band. So good natured and entertaining. The Spanish equivalent of the Wellington Ukelele Band. So now to bed. What a day.
