Day 27 Astorga to Rabanal de Camino. My toughest ever day on the Camino. Walked 22 kms car 1.5km
After thinking wehad scored well with the room turned out it was directly above the terrace and party Central. Drinking d yahooing went on til 1:30 or 2:00 am. Also Marie snores and the woman above me coughed and coughed.
We were unable to leave early as Marie needed to go to the bank to get a Western Union bank draught as she was unable to withdraw her money from SA. Bank could not upload her passport so no money.
We left town at about 10:00am. Julio was ill with diarhoea. The walking was fine til midday. Temperatures in the high twenties. By 2:30 we were at the village before our night stop. I felt dreadful not sure if I could do the final 6.45km. But after a long rest (Julio had a sleep) and something to eat we all set off again. It was the worst two hours on the Camino. Easy walking but very hot. I became more and more unwell and slower.
The countryside changed considerably and we walked through scrub and around planted forests. I was not interested. Only took one photo the whole day.
I talked briefly to Anne and Hugh but was not very well. They at tennis.
Finally after several stops a local husband and wive were talking to Julio and Lisette and they were happy to take me to the refugio. This is where Julio and Lisette were booked in and I have a room and more importantly a bathroom to myself. I definitely have Julios complaint. I think it is too much sun.

Marie That's the down side of a group. You need to get away earlier in the morning and out of that afternoon heat. If others need to leave later meet them at the next stop. Hope you better all my love. Xx
