Day 12. Atapuerca to Burgos. 15 kms walking about 4 by bus.
215kms completed in under 12 days. The next section to Ponferrada will be 283 kms in 15 days.
Got up and started walking about 8:30. The first 2.5 out of Atapuerca were uphill. There was a thick most and not the promised vistas. My camera is not good at landscape anyway.
I started to notice some tiny flowers on the top. Yes Marie the thyme is in bloom but only just. I have made an album of different flowers all within a metre of the path. I thought a lot of Jenny and Jan and how they would have enjoyed them. I have set up an album in photos. I was so happy photographing the flowers I started singing to myself. There is nothing like telling a story with a camera to really make you focus on where you are.
I am trying to catch up the photos. It is terrible how quickly I forget where I was.
Today after walking some of the way in and catching a bus, to the Hotel Fermin Gonzales, I am lying on the bed resting and airing various hurts and soaking my washing. Hope the next 40 hours provides some healing.
Spain has really embraced wind turbines they are everywhere and I love them. Except for the ones frozen in a Heil Hitler like salute, not sure why they should not be turning. Unlike NZ they are not single file on the ridges but in in rows of alternating intervals. Not sure what Don Quixote would make of them.
Am going to a museum exhibit of the early hominid this evening.
