Day 14 Burgos to Hornillos 21 km
I had dinner last night with Inga. She is returning to Germany on Sunday. We went to a really Spanish bar and had pxintos like tapas but different area. I had artichoke and peppers and octopus and potato. Both very delicious.
Left hotel at 9:00 then had cafe con leche with neopolitano in the square by the magnificent cathedral. Why do I keep wanting to order cafe con carne. Chillies with meat good coffee with meat ridiculous.
I was a little despondent that the rest day had not fixed my issues. The walk was not difficult but through suburbs and along over and under highways.
I was going to find a bed for the night when in met up with two young Aussie men. One had been troubled by bad feet and was walking in tevas and socks. Tevas are a common walking sandal. I realised my toe socks would go well with my Merrell toe sandals so another ten kms of steady climb with a steep down at the end.
Got to the very nice new albergue 5:30 hot sweaty but only knees sore. Had a shower and was sitting airing feet on grass lawn luxury. When I noticed a rash on feet. Then on legs arms and moving. Took another shower and all is well. I think again I have had too much sun. Must start earlier and finish earlier or my body will resist. I was good about fluids today and drank four 350 ml bottles of water two beer and a 500ml diet coke. Essential in this weather
I walk and learn. Not really in tune with my body yet. Look like the Saggy Baggy elephant but dare not use any moisturiser in case of another rash attack.
Today was a day of smells some unpleasant in the city but beautiful elderflower and broom flowers. Who knew broom (does it have an e) smelled so good. The sheep here smell very strongly. The day of the little flowers two days ago we past some sheep penned up 200 m from the path and the smell was very strong. They also had a belled sheep with them.
We are now in the meseta. I am looking forward to some flat days. Tomorrow seems much like today some up some flat and some steep down. By for now

Marie Wow a big day! I don"t think rest days fix things really there is a big difference between rest and cure. Building quietly after a rest day a good idea. 5pm is a late finish and all through the worst heat of the day. Go gently perhaps drop your distance back or start early, rest between 12 and 2pm? You'll find what works take your time and play with it. Love and kindness I send to you. Xxxxx
kiwi07 I did better today. Think I had a touch of sunstroke. Up in middle of night with diarrhoea. Hot stuffy 12 in a small room with one small window. All fun at the palace.
