Sunday in Buenos Aires is supposed to be pretty exciting so I have a big day planned. I did try and get some extra sleep just incase it turns out to be a late night again. In the morning after doing my exercises and making lunch I made contacted with Lu a local girl I was introduced to through a friend and organized to meet up with her. Lu is lovely and once again another very good English speaker, she lives in Provencia - which is outside of BA city so we jumped in her car and headed out to her neighborhood. The first stop was this beautiful park alongside the river to sit, relax, drink some Mate and enjoy the sunshine. There were literally 1000s of people - families and couples enjoying picnics, rollerblading, skateboarding and everything else you can imagine. The council provides all the amenities from toilets, free wifi, free exercise classes, security and helpers to make the place safe and organized for the people. After a few hours we headed around to Lu's house and I was introduced to her Mother who was a lovely lady that could only speak Spanish but managed to understand most of my bad Spanish - she gave me lots of info and invited me to dinner on Friday night. Next stop was a the oldest cafe in the neighbourhood where every Sunday there was tango dancers performing. We sat on the street, drinking coffee and watching my first tango dancers in Buenos Aires; although it was interesting the dance was a little lifeless so I will need to see another show. We then made our way out to a food festival call Boca Abierto where all the organic resteraunts, markets, winery's and shops had come together to present their best products of 2014. The festival was amazing with atleast a few thousand people wandering around sampling chocolates, wines, cakes, cheeses and every other food and drink you could think of. At about 9pm the first band (Reggae) started playing for the crowd and they were incredibly good and within minutes people were up dancing and singing along. We grabbed a glass of wine, a couple of seats and sat back enjoying the show. The second band to come on sung old country and western music all in English - so I felt very much at home and had no choice but to clap and sing along. People everywhere were square dancing, cheering and clapping and creating this wonderful energy that was contagious. At 11pm we had to head back to Lu's house and pick her Grandma and sister up and drop them off in the city, Lu then took me back to where I was staying - so kind of her. It was late when I got back but Sonia was still up so we chatted a while before going to bed very late again.
