We arrived at Denham yesterday and for about the first 200 kms we couldn't believe how many emus and goats we saw wandering the roads we even saw a couple of lizards who were trying to cross the road some made it, some didn't, a bit different than roos and livestock that we have previously seen.
We are staying at Denham Seaside Tourist Village and we have a lovely view overlooking Shark Bay. Jim tried a bit of fishing caught a few colourful fish but threw them because they looked to nice, saw a shark and last night we went down to the jetty where people were squidding!!! It was fun to watch, people & kids all going to one side of the jetty if someone saw a squid. The poor squid didn't stand a chance. There were sea snakes everywhere as well as sting rays who just sat underneath the jetty waiting. Jim went and bought himself a squid jig so he can have some fun tonight too.
This morning we went to Monkey Mia and were lucky enough to see a three week old dolphin with its mum (Nicky) Nicky is about 35yrs old, unfortunately because of the baby dolphin the public weren't allowed to feed Nicky but it was great to see the baby trying to learn how to swim properly, it was a bit clumsy at times, they came so close to the shore.
We had a big thunderstorm and it rained most of the night but it is still warm and the sun is now out again and boy is it hot.
Life is certainly layback here at the moment there are not many people around as this is the off season. You could walk up the middle of the main street without even getting hit by a car. A minute ago two emus were just wandering along the beach looking for something to do.
