On the way to Margaret River we drove through some lovely little towns one was called Cowaramup. Around the town were all different life size statues of cows, they were standing, laying down, cows, calves and bulls, it was quite a novel idea. We loved the drive to Margaret River, the caravan park we stayed at was a close walk to the street so that was good.
After getting settled we went for a drive to Prevelly Beach, where we saw some people kite surfing, the wind was blowing a gale, but the guys were having so much fun and they were extremely good. The next day we went for a drive to Hamelin Bay which was lovely, drove further on to Augusta and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, it had changed quite a bit since the last time we were there in 1996, now you had to park your car outside a fence and pay $5pp to go in and walk then to the lighthouse. (Last time you could almost drive in the whole way and it was free). Another cool place we went to was Jewell Cave which was just out of Augusta, it was an underound cave full of some amazing stalactites and stalacmites.
Just out of Margaret River was a silkworm farm, it was only new in the area but it was very interesting,we also visited Voyager Estate Winery where James Penton (Lyn's nephew) works it is a lovely winery and their wine was very nice. The Margaret River Chocolate factory was also another favourite, it is owned by the same people who own The Swan Valley Choc factory near Perth, so we knew what we were in for.
