There were two Top Tourist Parks in Esperance and we decided to stay at the park which was only about 1km to the main shopping area. Unfortunately we picked the wrong one, there were road works going on all around it which made it a bit difficult to access, I felt sorry for the managers of the park, the road construction company had taken over a very large part of the park with their dongas. The road works were going from about 7 in the morning which didn't worry us at all, but when night time came we had grain trains that went right along side the park and they would sound their horn when they arrived at the crossing, not much sleep.
The local jetty had a couple of resident sea lions who would hang around and wait for people to catch fish and throw the rest to them, they were very fat and lazy, sleeping on the beach in the sun. Jim decided that he wanted to get that special photo of the younger one who was lazing around near the edge of the water. Down to the beach he went, all was good until !!! you will need to look at the photos to see the result of that very special photo.
We went for a lovely drive around the coast road which had the most amazing beaches. The next day we drove to Cape Le Grand National Park it was about a 50km drive from Esperance. Wow, it had some of the most beautiful beaches we have seen on our trip, they were very sheltered and the sand was so white and powdery.
