Driving towards Exmouth we suddenly began to see stray sheep along the roads and of course the would come across in front of you at the last minute. We decided to stay in Exmouth for about 4 days. It was a spread out town with a lot of new developement happening. The new areas of housing reminded us of Paynesville as there were alot of man made canals and new houses were beginnining to go up everywhere.
The weather here was lovely, apparantly it has been known to get to 50+ in mid summer (no thank you). We went for a drive to Pebble Beach which is well named because that is all that is there, we saw a man gettling some pebbles for his garden once he realised we weren't locals he was quite up for a chat. We went to Cape Range National Park and drove to Charles Knife Gorge, we have seen many gorges on our trip but this one was a bit different because we could actually drive along the ridge instead of walking it, when we got to the top of the gorge there was a lookout where you had views of Exmouth and and The Ningaloo Marine Park.
The next day we drove around to the west side of the National Park and drove along the Ningaloo Marine Park. The weather was perfect, not a breath of wind. We stopped at a few snorkelling spots, best of all was Oyster Stacks, you could only go at high tide and it was so close to the shore. Jim had an amazing time and saw so many colorful fish, many more than he saw on our $165 cruise off Airly Beach.
The park had some resident Corellas and doves who were quite entertaining hanging upside down in the trees and jumping on taps to get a drink of water. They were there in the mornings and would dissapear in the afternoons.
