We stayed at a really nice park at Emu Beach in Albany, the beach was about 100m from the park over the dunes the park was very busy because of school holidays and the Australia Day weekend. We decided to stay at Albany for 3 nights as there were a few things to see there.
We went to the whaling station, it was Australias last operating station, it was closed in 1978. One of the whaling boats was still there and you could walk on it and see just how small the living conditions were when the boats were at sea. Walking down onto the flensing deck (where the blubber was stripped from the whales) was very eery, they had an audio going which was a recreation of that time, I didn't like that part but is an important part of Australia's history.
Princess Royal Fortress was another very interesting place, it was an outdoor Military Museum. The Albany Wind Farm was quite a large one there were 18 wind turbines stretched out over the hills, the wind farm supplied Albany with 80% of its power.
