We had a lovely drive to Busselton, we drove through some lovely towns, one town that we liked was called Harvey, it was in dairy and citrus country. It was lovely to see the nice green grass and the cows and dairies (I can't believe I just said that!!) We went to the tourist information centre there and had a lovely walk through the gardens and had a drink at the restaurant We finally found a caravan park, it was one of the dearest but it was holiday season so I guess it was to be expected, it was $65 per night but they had a deal, pay for 3 and get 4 nights. Busselton was such a nice town, the beach was at the back of the caravan park you just walked out the back gate and you were almost there. Busselton had a festival on for most of the month of January, there were things happening almost every day, night markets, activities for kids etc, it was a great time to be there, on the final night there were fireworks and a concert at which Darryl Braithwaite was singing.
In one of the brochures we saw a place called Gnomesville, it was just out of Bunbury so we decided to go for a drive, we thought that it was somebody's garden but when we got there we couldn't believe our eyes, it was at an intersection almost in the middle of knowhere, you came to the intersection and here they were, thousands and thousands of garden knomes of all different shapes and sizes, it took us about an hour to walk through them, people from all over the world had put them there some were like little families with names and dates written on them and of course I took heaps of photos.
We went on the Busselton Jetty Train, the jetty is almost 2km long and at the end of it is an underwater observatory, it was really great we walked down lots of stairs and ended up below water level where we were able to see lovely coral and fish all around the jetty pylons.
