The last couple of weeks have been nice and relaxed while we have tried to get used to Christmas and New Year in the heat.
South Bank has been full of events and displays on and around the river and we spent a couple of hours lying out on the grass watching The Polar Express on a huge inflatable screen while we quietly baked!
Christmas day was full of the traditional activities: namely eating until we felt ill and then spending the afternoon lounging in front of the TV watching old Christmas films. We had every intention of going for a stroll in the sun as it is still quite a novelty for us not to be wrapped up warm at this time of year, but by the time we had recovered from our feed it was all we could do to stay awake for a few hours more!
The New Year's Eve celebrations were centred around the river and we sat by the pool watching the kids' firework display in the early evening before the main event kicked off. However, a few hours later and we were both feeling pretty rough and we had possibly our quietest New Year's Eve ever as we sat inside watching the Sydney fireworks on TV while the Brisbane fireworks echoed around us outside.
