We left Rockhampton on Thursday morning after our first nights sleep back on the tourist track (and a small exercise in removing ticks from our legs that we had obviously picked up in Bunya) and after another day's driving we reached cape Hillsborough National Park just North of Mackay. Once we arrived we were pleased to see we had a nice little camp spot just across from the beach and were even promised the chance to see kangaroos hopping along the sand in the mornings. That was promised the CHANCE to see them!
Once the tent was pitched and our travelling haven was completed we took a stroll along the beach while the sun was setting behind us, which signalled the onset of all manner of winged beasts, so we soon retreated to the relative comfort of our tent for the evening.
It was decided that we would have a day off from driving and so yesterday we set about returning some colour to our pasty white bodies. Being that this was the first day in a while that we had dedicated some time to lying around doing nothing, you can imagine our delight when we discovered that the clouds had won the battle of the weather for the first day since we had left the farm!
