As this is a day off Roger is going to write some of the blog today. Raining in Burgos this morning so we went to the cathedral which takes about two hours to tour around. It's been restored completely and perhaps lost some of its historical feel as a result. Then to a modern art gallery and then tapas lunch. Both of us feeling restored and bought some lovely nail polish for my toes. I've kept them plain thinking I might need to see what's going on with my feet but now I don't care. The colour is Cajun Shrimp and cheers me up. So here's Roger and sorry about the upside photo as you do need to look at it in some detail.
Hello there, well the bathroom setting of the photo is significant as I'm going to run through a few essentials for the modern pilgrim and an occasional bath is no1 . This will mean checking into a 50 euro plus hotel from time to time. And losing bragging rights to those who tough it out in the Albergues at around 10euros, but so what.
around the bath you'll see 9 items. Here we go.
1. Crocs. I can hear Gok snorting into his cappuccino but after walking 25km slip into a pair of these bad boys and you are ready to party.
2 The Buff. Which can be used as a scarf, or a hat or a hair and a versatile accessory and isobel looks good in the buff.
3. Sunglasses . Just as useful for keeping dust out of my eyes as much as sunshine. They look good with crocs.
4. Fridge magnets. Nice to keep a record of where you have been. This one is from Pamplona.
5. M and S shorts. Lightweight and easy to wash and dry, cargo pockets for valuables and built in net support to save on underwear. Almost like going commando. What's not to like.
6. Rucksack. It all depends what weight you are carrying in your rucksack. The average seems to be about 8 kilos. We have met people carrying 20 kilos and suffering for it.
7. Rucksack liner. Put your clothes in this and with a couple of twists they are rainproof.....thanks to Molly for lending them to us.
8. Medication. We were prepared for foot injuries which thankfully haven't happened but didn't think about muscle strains. On the bath you will see Voltarol and 600 mg pain killers which seem to help.
9. Wine. Could also be classed as medication. Another glass Roger. Is the pope a catholic?

Mary Very enlightening Roger, but perhaps too much information.......Sally forth after your comfy rest.
Chris Mostyn I'm playing 'blog reading catch-up' and a thoroughly good read it is so far! Well done to you both - keep it up!
Jan I am also playing catch up like Chris. sounds like you are having an incredible time. I feel rather guilty about my two trips down to London firstly to the Chelsea flower show - fab Japanese garden and then this week for Stewart's birthday a trip to the theatre to see Blythe Spirit and then lunch at the Ledbury for Sally's birthday. Hope you are feeling virtuous!!
