Soongies' Great Adventure
Today Fiona, Kate and Calvin went for a cycle through Delamere forest. We started off with a quick bite to eat at the Delamere forest cafe - we sat outside in the beautiful sunshine to eat! Bike hire wasn't cheap - £25 per bike for 3 hours. Not the €3 for a whole day we got accustomed to in Holland! They were pretty good mountain bikes though. We followed the white route through the forest. There were lots of flat sections but still quite a few hills. There were lots of bumpy bits too with rocky gravel paths! The scenery was awesome - trees, trees and more trees! At one point going up a steeper hill, Kate's chain dislodged but luckily Calvin could fix it! Otherwise it would have been a long walk back to the car! Fiona looked a real pro at one stage when she blended into a group of guys showing off their wheelie skills. With Fiona's bright yellow helmet, she fitted right in! After about 2.5 hours of cycling, with sore bottoms and hands, it was time to reward ourselves back at the cafe with an icecream each (and of course a cup of tea for Fiona). We drove him with sore bottoms but stopped at Cheshire Oaks and then Bromborough to get a few last things done before heading off tomorrow - we disposed of Calvin's water logged camera, Calvin got some more socks and we had a look for a new camera. Of course we also had the obligatory stop at M & S to get some supplies! Once home we finished off our packing and then we had a delicious dinner - roast lamb, veggies, mashed potato and Yorkshire puddings! And then it was fruit and yoghurt for dessert before having a few games of bananagrams! We decided to change the rules this time to be a team game. Once someone finished then they could help their marital partner to finish and then whichever couple finished first was deemed the winner. Fiona and Richard were the champions 2/2 times with this new format! Home ground advantage obviously! We'll just have to come back to England soon so we can have another shot.
