The wagons have circled tonight. We have pulled up at a free camp 26kms north of Whim Creek with 15 other vans of all shapes and sizes, it's an interesting sight.
We looked around Point Samson this morning, a small but pretty tourist town with a small commercial marina.
Then went back and into Wickham where there is a supermarket and a few shops. It has a pretty rough feel, it's next to Rio Tinto's Cape Lambert iron ore shipping facility and is a very dusty working mans town with lots of aboriginals about. We drove out the other side crossing the railway with some trepidation as there are these huge trains and a man on the crossing saying when you can go through. There's lots of development happening, the sea is pretty dirty, not much appeal about the area.
Had lunch at the marina then through the fishing line in with no success. We were fascinated by the tidal water running through the causeway, firstly with the tide running in then when we came back it was streaming back out. About a 5 metre tide here.
We then headed off towards Port Headland, drove into Whim Creek only a hotel there.
It's good to be parked with a lot of similar people although we are the only ones in a small van. Not sure where the young backpacker type people are.
