Off this morning heading south to Esperance.
We were impressed by the small towns, stopped at Salmon Gums for morning coffee and read all about the early settlers, how they took up and cleared 1,000 acre blocks and then lots of them were wiped out by drought, tough times.
Had a good look around Gibson which is only about 30kms out of Esperance a really interesting little place. Then took a back road off around past a farm used as a farm school for kids, is run by Teen Challenge. Think we will head out there to church in the morning.
It is so good to get back into more lush country, the country leading into Esperance reminded us of the South East of South Australia. We pulled up on the beach front in town, the sea smell was amazing, it was a bit like after living at sea for a while how you really notice the land smells. It's a most beautiful place and the weather is 27 degrees and fantastic. We drove around, went for some walks and generally checked the place out.
Lashed out and dined at the Jetty Restaurant tonight, very nice. We are in a caravan park tonight, $29.00 no power, it's getting more expensive, scrub up time though. They are very tough on camping out around here, the caravan parks have been successful in getting laws against it. We will need to be discreet.
