Went for a walk just after day break. Circumnavigated the quarry, it's quite a way around but very picturesque with the Boabs and hills surrounding the water in the quarry.
Climbed up one of the rock faces and found a very substantial cave system. I was impressed by how shiny some of the spots were where people had probably been going through for thousands of years. The ceiling of the main cave at the front was black from the fires they would have had there. I was surprised that it got warmer (it was early morning) as we went deeper in.
Rose washed some clothes using water from the quarry.
Drove up the road towards the Gibb River road, this road has quite a lot of traffic and is very corrugated. Went down a side track and found a nice spot on a creek for lunch.
Then kept plugging on, let my tyres down a bit further this morning to 28, but corrugations still pretty harsh.
Drove straight past Tunnel Creek (no dogs), lots of vehicles parked here. Stopped at a spot marking where Jandamurra killed a policeman at an outstation, just some walls of a building that had been redone, not much authentic. Rose and I are kind of fans of Jandamurra an Aboriginal that stood up against the whites back around 1900, so we're probably not as sorry for the officer as we should have been.
It was a long drive back to Derby and back into the caravan park we are familiar with.
