We had two different rides go out this morning, Alida took out the four guests along with Alex and then Netty and I took out the Swedish couple with their two girls. Headed out to the north paddock and the airstrip to have a look around. The big wide open countryside. You never get sick of it. I was on Maddie today, who went really well.
Got back and had the 2nd breakfast and then Brom found me and took me out into the paddock to practise whip cracking. There is clearly a technique to it, which I was over thinking. However I managed to swing it above my head like a chopper and crack it up there, better one way than the other but still. After developing a sore arm and losing the cracker at the end, we called it a day.
Came back and Brom showed me how to make another cracker out of bailing twine. Twist a piece of bailing twine to about the thickness of lead in a pencil, then fold it in half and twist the two pieces again, making sure that you twist each strand as you twist them both together. Half hitch the end and make sure that the very end is frayed.
Basically I hit the wall again and put my feet up for an hour. Had lunch and then had to get ready for the afternoon ride. Climbed on a new ride today - Lass. She is a Tb mare and I was told at trot she throws her head in the air. So I climbed on early and got her to submit to a few boundaries. We then had a mostly pleasant ride with the odd camel moment but they didn't last long. Came back to the yards and borrowed Alida to show her the new party tricks. Looks like I'll be teaching Alida on Lass tomorrow

Natasha We'll be needing whip cracking demonstrations at staff in a couple of weeks :D It might come in super handy in our line of work too ;)
