Excuse the ramblings today - lots of thoughts with lots of breaks while writing so no clear continuity.
Well strangely we woke up to another fine day with no chance of rain and heading for a high of 33, which apparently will be 2 degrees lower than yesterday!
It seems to be a day off, however there are always plenty of horses to ride. I'll be giving Netty a lesson again today and then doing some observations with Tash who is starting and training horses. There is a buckskin that won't canter with a diagonal pair so seeing what we can do with that. No poles here to help teach them so will see what occurs.
Tash is out on a horse already, Netty is nowhere to by found currently. Would be good to get the lesson done before it gets too hot.
Apparently Chris went back to Yarrabah, where he was supposed to cut all the wires off of the panels. For some unbeknown reason he used the grinder to cut the wires. Grinders create sparks, and so the dried grass caught on fire. With no way of putting it out, he had to radio back to the station that Yarrabar was on fire. Roderick and Brad grabbed the fire fighting equipment and headed out to see what they could do. Fire equipment consisted of a 400litre water tank and a spray gun. Neighbouring stations where contacted. They all converged on the Yarrabah fire and only due to expreience managed to get the fire out. A lot of damage had occured though. Roderick and Alida made it pretty clear that they weren't happy with the incompetence of Chris.
Will update as the day goes on, temperatures are supposed to come down slightly over the next day or two. Alida mentioned about how hard she had thrown me in the deep end on arrival - I assured her that it was the best thing - I knew I'd be sore but it was worth it
