So today we started off with a visit to the world famous kings Park. Our first stop was the kiosk for drink. I then went into the visitors centre and got a map of the actual botanical garden and one of the whole park. Are intention was then to walk around the garden. It is very different to Adelaide which is totally flat. We then went and spent some time at the war memorial reading the names of those that left Western australian shores never to return. The memorial has the beautiful back drop of the city of Perth.
We then went for a walk around the garden taking a path that took us to the small skywalk they have. Funny to think I found it scarry the first time I did this walk some 9 years ago. It was interesting to read about the aboriginal mobs of the Perth region. We then walked back to the carpark. Stopping on the way for me to look at and climb the DNA tower. Carey had a sitdown at this point. Back at the carpark we decided to have lunch at the cafe. Another nice meal.
We then headed into the city of Perth after I found on the internet an open air carpark as we are to tall for most carparks with the roofrack full. We programmed the address into the navman and headed for the city. It was an easy trip.
I was surprised that the carpark was quite empty especially as it was in cose proximity to the hospital and St Marys catholic church. We then walked down Murray street which has a mall and then moved over to Hay street that also has a mall. The two run parallel to each other. The Hay stree Mall was full of youth lined up to go into a store called culture kings to meet a American artist called Lil Yachty. Not sure who or what tyoe of artist but Im assuming a singer of some kind. Will look him up on the internet.
We then cut through an arcade called London Court. It had old fashion shop fronts. We then walked down onto the esplanade where the ferries and boats leave for Fremantle and Rottnest Island. Alot of building is going on as they are building appartment block on the esplanade. Don't know if I would like to live next to the Bell Tower. Yeah we saw the bell tower.
We then walked back to the car and headed back to our accommodation at Rivervale.
Another easy drive. Perth has got a really good road system.
I was surprised at the mixture of old and new in the city of Perth. Court buildings and hotels side by side. How they have got the modern buildings of the hospital next to the old buildings and are working to preserve the history.
I found it a clean city but was surprised at how the homeless just lay in door ways in the middle of the city during the day. So, So many cafes and restaurants.
