We left Capricornia on the 20th August and headed for Meekatharra. Another small mining town on the Great Northern Highway. It was an interesting little place. We were able to look at some disused mines and more gorges. The town was really quiet being a sunday. Also some of the population had gone walkabout to visit family over on the coast.
We got to talk with alot of the locals who were very friendly. Went to one of the 3 Pubs in town for tea. Thought the place was closed to start with as all shut up. Carey pushed on the doors and found one open. Inside was a very friendly group of locals. The food was lovely.
We then went back to the roadhouse which closes at 9pm. It has the local caravan park with a row of king vans. Basically another style of Donga. The vans either have 2 or 3 bedrooms in each with an ensuit for each bedroom. We spent the night in one of these. It was a comfortable night.
