Another decent drive today. Saw either road trains or grey nomads. Lots of changing landscape. More and more beautiful wildflowers.
Also got to stop for road works. It was interesting to watch the men at work as we travelled past them. Also gave Carey the chance to educate me about road work machinery. Will I remember the names and jobs preformed by each piece of machinery. Probably not.
I was impressed at how considerate the trucks were of each other and other transport on the road. Toll fuel trucks can only do 90 km and all other road trains and towing vehicles can do 100km while we could do 110km. So the trucks were quick to let us know if we could pass and ones further along gave us some idea how long we had before vehicles were coming the other way. Good reason to have the uhf.
Between Port Hedland and Newman there is only one roadhouse at auski tourist village (munjina gorge). So it was only one coffee break and no coffee was bought as only did instant. Had ice coffee instead even though not Farmers Union. lol
Now at the Capricorn Village which is a miners and tourist park behind the petrol station on the northern highway 15 km or so out of Newman. Finding out what its like to be a FIFO.
