So today we travelled just over 600 km from Broome to Port Hedland.
Found the landscape alot more interesting going west than I did going east. We both saw different things to our first trip together on this piece of highway. Carey had travelled it previously in the truck.
We saw alot more wild flowers this time.
Was also interesting to see how at some points levees had been created on one side of the highway to keep the water off the highway and direct it over the highway at the lowest points on the flood plains.
We also saw our first snake and thankfully it was dead on the side of the road.
It is s hard to explain how often the landscape changes but its so suttle unless you see it yourself you would think it is just continually the same.
We reached Port Hedland in good time and found the Discovery Park and settled in for the night.
I went for a walk down on the beach which is the red sand again. Also tide well out so got to look at shells. Had some different ones to Eighty Mile Beach.
The market in Broome was nice experience. It was nice to see the town beach and the caravan park we were originally booked into. Glad we didn't stay there. Luckily grey nomads are happy to share their experiences and had told me not to use that park.
Was good to see the original settlers cemetry just sat in the park on the foreshore.
Also remembered to get a photo of Boab tree where they are meant to be. Lots of people thought we hadn't seen one before because were from SA. So had to explain that our council thought it a good idea to bring some to Elizabeth.
