There was no reason to get up too early today as the drive North was under two hours so we had a proper breakfast and a slow pack up and were still on the road just after 9 am. Wonga Beach was only 90 odd kms away but the drive was slow and winding with road works everywhere. At least it was a pretty drive as it followed the coast most of the way. We reached Wonga just after 11 am. We had pre booked a camp site and had been warned that the only site available was very close to the road and would be noisy and potentially a problem for the kids but we didn't have much choice as other camp sites were fully booked. We were very happy when we checked in to discover that they had found us a much better spot and we were know right on the beach. We set up camp while the kids ran off to play. By the time we had finished they had collected firewood and had built a huge fire right behind our caravan and were busy trying to crack coconuts! We spent the afternoon chatting to the other residents and met two couples from WA! We headed in to Mossman around 3 pm to buy groceries and then came back and had a walk along the beach. It's a nice beach but not swimmable due to crocs and is safe to walk along when the tide goes out. You can walk for miles in both directions and it was great to get some exercise. By the time we got back to camp it was time for dinner and Nick made burgers and chips on the BBQ. The kids continued to play outside until it was time for bed and after a quick shower passed out straight away, Katharine included. Nick and I watched a movie but had to have the sound up quite high as the noise from the waves was so loud!!
