We had a good night's sleep as the park was surprisingly quiet but the sound of traffic woke us up early - still for $30 a night who cares, especially as we were quoted $115 at some parks!! Once we'd all had breakfast we walked to Lawnton rail station and caught a train into Brisbane. We had to change trains at Central to get to South Bank and all up the trip took about 45 minutes but the kids had a lot of fun. We grabbed a coffee and an ice cream at South Bank and walked up and down exploring the parklands, which were beautiful. We eventually jumped on the free city hopper ferry and rode up and down the river, completing a full circuit. We all sat upstairs and Nick sat with two kids at the front of the boat while I had Anna on my knee and sat next to Jonny behind him. The boat began to get a bit busy and three other back packers also tried to cram onto a seat at which point the captain appeared and said the top deck was overloaded - he needed two volunteers to sit downstairs which ended up being me and Jonny!! We sat outside on the lower deck all by ourselves and after a while the captain came and asked Jonny to drive the boat as he'd given up his seat. He was thrilled sitting in the captain's chair spinning the wheel all by himself and he seemed to pick it up quite quickly! We got off the ferry at the marina and walked through the city to the main shopping mall on Queens street where we found a huge food court in the Myers Centre. The choice was overwhelming and so was the mass of people so we opted for the easiest, which was McDonalds! After lunch we called into the Nespresso store to top up our supplies and then walked back over the bridge to South Bank again. There were free deck chairs in the park so Nick and I sat and relaxed while the kids played in the playground. There were water dragons sitting on the rocks along the river enjoying the sunshine too. Eventually we caught the train home but it was busier this time and Nick had to stand all the way. Jonny sat next to a young dad and chatted to him nearly all the way home, which entertained most of the other passengers around him, especially when he started to explain about his inguinal hernia repair!! By the time we got home everyone was shattered. I made a new dish for dinner with the leftover roast pork and it didn't go down well at all. By the time I'd cleaned up I was ready for everyone to be in bed and threatened the boys with all sorts if they messed around again. One of the threats worked, as they were asleep within seconds!!!
