We were all woken at the crack of dawn by the huge road trains roaring past us on the highway. At 7 am we started the generator for a coffee knowing it couldn't upset our neighbours as the noise from the road trains was far worse! We all skipped breakfast, packed up the van and hit the road driving straight to the bakery in Gin Gin where we bought some delicious cinnamon scrolls to munch on the road. We took the drive across to Hervey Bay slowly as it was under two hours away and check in at the caravan park was officially after 12 mid day. Hervey Bay seemed huge with contained every shop and business we could think of! We called in to Woolworths and topped up on groceries to waste a bit of time and then headed to Scarness to find our caravan park. Scarness is a suburb of Hervey Bay on the Coral Sea and the caravan park had prime position on the beach. Our site was just behind the beachfront sites and next to the path - and the beach looked great! We set up camp and met the neighbours (all of them very friendly) and then made lunch. The afternoon was spent relaxing on the beach and swimming in the ocean although I didn't last long as it was a bit cold. Around five we had a walk down the main street and found one lovely looking restaurant after another. We settled on Indian for dinner, which was just across the road from the caravan park and had an awesome meal. The kids have only had homemade Indian food before and they loved it - especially the breads! We had a short walk before coming home and it was after 7 pm by the time we got back. Unfortunately the kids were full of life while I had crashed big time - if only they hadn't learnt to tell the time!! We eventually managed to get them in to bed where they passed out instantly. We watched one episode of GoT before doing the same!
