We woke up to a beautiful sunny day and decided to stay until Tuesday as there is a lot to see in the Tablelands. We spent the morning doing schoolwork, had an early lunch and then drove back to Yungaburra for a proper look around. We parked at the Platypus Viewing Platform on the edge of town and walked along the Peterson Creek looking for platypus. The walk was beautiful with lots of little bridges to cross, small waterfall and plenty to see in the water such as turtles and water dragons. We walked all the way to Frawleys Pool where the kids crossed the water by climbing along the boulders while I went off in such of a platypus. Just as I'd walked out of sight I heard Matty and Anna start screaming. When I got back Matty had fallen in the water and Anna was screaming in sympathy!! At this point we left the creek and walked through the woods to the old railway bridge hoping we would see a tree kangaroo but unfortunately we were out of luck. We walked through the town in search of an ice cream and it was full of heritage-listed buildings - very pretty. We rejoined the creek for the last 5 minutes of the walk and Nick spotted a platypus playing in the water. It swam around with us watching for a couple of minutes and resurfaced three times before finally disappearing - fantastic! We headed home, calling in to Atherton for dinner on the way, and by the time we got back we were shattered. The walk had taken us about four hours in total! We had sausages and potato bake for dinner thanks to the new oven and then an early night for the kids as Nick and I were keen to continue with 'Game of Thrones' - two episodes in and we're hooked!!
