We woke up this morning to another sunny day in Queensland but it wasn't quite warm enough to hit the beach so instead we decided to visit Australia Zoo in Beerwah. The kids made Thank You banners for Grace as she very kindly gave them their entry ticket for the zoo and we took photos with them at the entrance. The zoo was fantastic. Staff walked around with all sorts of different animals, birds and reptiles for the kids to pat or hold. Different types of lizards (some massive) roamed free everywhere, especially around the food courts! We walked around half the zoo then stopped for coffee and muffins before heading to the Crococeum for the Wildlife Warriors Show - the main event!! There was a bird show where different types of parrots flew around the stadium buzzing the crowd and a snake exhibit where staff carried different types of snakes through the stadium for people to see. A Dingo came out pretending one had bitten him and had his bite site bandaged before being carried off. Then Bindi Irwin appeared and she led the crocodile feeding show, which was great and very entertaining. Once the show had finished we headed to the food court for lunch but it was packed and none of us were hungry enough to queue so we spent another couple of hours seeing the rest of the animals and then headed home. On the way of course we had to visit the souvenir shop and the kids bought themselves a zoo animal as a memento. We planned on calling into Eumundi, a lovely little town, on the way home but the kids were exhausted and didn't want to explore anymore so we stopped off at Woollies to buy dinner and headed back to the van. The kids went straight out to find their friends while I did some laundry and cooked a roast pork dinner. I wasn't sure how well it would work in the turbo cooker but it was sensational, especially the crackling. It was gone 8 o'clock by the time we were all finished and the dishes done but well worth it. By the time the kids got to bed it was after 9 and they were out cold in 5 minutes - hopefully they will sleep in in the morning as it's Father's Day!!
