Anna and Jonny woke up at the crack of dawn and went off to play on the beach. Matty and Katharine soon joined them and Nick and I drifted in and out of sleep until 830 am!! We eventually got up and had coffee outside but the skies were grey and it soon started to rain. We had breakfast and then spent the morning hitting the schoolbooks. Nick took the girls to an enormous undercover area with ten large tables in it and plenty of chairs but got kicked out, as it was private use only - even though it was empty!! Instead he had to go to the camp kitchen, which contained one small table and a kettle (!!) and Katharine walked through it thinking it was a corridor! We had lunch and then drove into Port Douglas. I was expecting a quaint little town full of coffee shops serving Devonshire teas but instead it was a heaving mass of resorts, restaurants and tourists. We parked at the marina and walked through a mass of small market stalls and shops then headed into town to find an ice cream. Everywhere seemed packed full of people and a large number of them were smoking - it was quite revolting after the clean air of Wonga Beach! We found a park looking over the ocean and had our ice creams then walked up Flagstaff Hill and found the old lighthouse. There was too much traffic on the roads to reach the look out so we returned to the car and drove up instead. After a few photos we drove home, calling in to Mossman for more groceries. By the time we got back to the van the rain had started again and was coming down heavily which meant we were all trapped inside. We put a movie on for the kids and once they'd gone to bed we tried to watch TV but the rain was creating such a din as it hit the van that we had to use headphones so we could hear!!
